The Flying Dutchman is the story about a ghostly sailor who is damned to wander the seas in search of the love that will set him free.

This early work by Wagner is still, nearly 200 years after its world premiere in Dresden, on the standard repertoire list for opera houses around the world
 
This three act opera is sung in the original language German, but with Metropolitans own translating system "Met titles" the text can be translated in to English and Spanish.
